Advance o2 mild hyperbaric oxygen therapy
Advance o2’s mantra comes from the great Thomas Edison:
“When you feel you have exhausted all possibilities, remember this… you haven’t”.
This quote really sums up mild Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy perfectly. Mild Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (mHBOT) is often discovered once people have decided to explore alternative treatment options after getting frustrated with traditional approaches. This friendly little clinic in Gaythorne in Brisbane’s north and Clontarf on the Redcliffe Peninsula has assisted clients with a wide range of health complaints towards improving their quality of life.
What is mild hyperbaric oxygen therapy?
Mild Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (mHBOT) is the administration of oxygen under higher than normal atmospheric pressure (1.35ATA) as a whole-body treatment. The pressure in the chamber forces oxygen to be dissolved into the blood’s plasma, lymph, brain and spinal fluids, enabling oxygen to access areas of the body, like the brain, that under normal circumstances are difficult to reach. Oxygen under pressure has “drug-like” effects on the entire body, and the best part about this is that it is completely natural!
What are the benefits?
Mild HBOT is emerging internationally as an effective adjunctive therapy to help reduce the symptoms associated with a number of chronic health conditions.
It is important to understand however that this is a treatment and not a cure. It has the potential to be a very powerful tool when used in conjunction with your other ongoing therapies and medications.
Increased oxygenation has many health benefits. Some of these benefits may include:
• Alleviation of tension and stress
• Increases in concentration and memory – functional and cognitive abilities can respond positively to treatment
• Detoxification of the blood
• Reduction in inflammation in the joints, gut and brain
• Relief of muscle stiffness
• Clearing of ‘brain fog’
• Improvements in metabolism
• Reduction of fatigue and possible improvements in communication and sleeping patterns
• Assistance with wound healing.
How many treatments will I need?
Mild HBOT is a cumulative therapy and the number of treatments you may wish to complete depends on your condition. There is no requirement for a doctors referral and you’re free to book sessions as you wish. The optimum manufacturer-recommended protocol for these portable chambers is to complete your first 5 sessions within 7 – 10 days, after which they may be required less frequently. But ultimately you know your own body best, and so Advance o2 allow you to choose your appointment scheduling based on what you feel is appropriate for you and your sense of wellness.
During treatment...
The chamber is inflated and then pressurised while you breathe high levels of oxygen through an oxygen face mask supplied via an oxygen concentrator. You’re welcome to take electronic devices and books into the chamber with you for entertainment or you may wish to just enjoy a restful sleep.
Is this therapy safe?
Mild HBOT is completely natural, safe and well tolerated, with very few side effects. Sinus or ear pain may be experienced and can usually be relieved by using the same techniques when flying in a plane such as swallowing or opening and closing your mouth wide. ‘Ear Planes’ purchased from a chemist may also assist. Claustrophobia may be experienced by those susceptible to confinement anxiety. Any other side effects are rare with mild HBOT but it’s advised to raise any concerns with your Advance o2 operator and consult your doctor.
